Google has their own browser as well, and it's really good - web designers need to test their sites in all the browsers, and Chrome is very popular, and have good HTML5 support - get it here
This one holds the title of being the fastest browser on the internet, and indeed it is. It load pages quicker than other browsers, so I don't know why it isn't used more. Anyway, it's another good alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer - get it here
If you come from a Mac environment, and want to stick to your Mac roots, then you can download the Safari browser, which now has a PC version as well - get it here

Ever had to help someone do something over the phone, or via email? It can be a very daunting task! Easier way would be to simply take control of the person you're trying to help's PC, and do it yourself! These tools are perfect for just that:
TeamViewer connects to any PC or server around the world within a few seconds. You can remote control your partner's PC as if you were sitting right in front of it. get it here
Crossloop is also a remote desktop manager, but they focus on providing support to anyone - you can still use this to help out your dad over the internet, or something like that. get it here
We personally use Avast, and haven't had any issues since we started using it. You need a registration code every year, but luckily registration is free each time - get it here
If you ever find a file with a .RAR extension, or something like that, and don't want to buy WinRAR, then 7-zip is a great free alternative! - get it here
If you were (or are) a fan of the classic Rogue game, then this will definitely be worth your while. Whenever you have 5-15 minutes to spare, this is a great way to kill that time! Choose from several different races and classes, and clear a randomly generated dungeon - FUN - best of all, this one is local! Yup, very creative South African guys created this awesome little dungeon crawler - get it here
