If you order before the end of February, I'll load a Wordpress Blog onto your domain as well, FOR FREE! (terms and conditions apply of course...) - this means you will have your very own blog that you can do with whatever you want!
NOTE: We do not provide any support on how to work with the Wordpress Blog, you'll have to look at their site for instructions and support... We just set it up, and give you your username and password (which you can change of course) - the rest is up to you!

So you've decided that its time to get yourself a website, but you haven't got a clue on where to begin. This very simple guide will definately answer some of the questions you might have:
First of all, what is a website technically? Well, a basic website consists of various computer files. These contain the actual content of your website, like paragraphs, headings, bullets, images, etc. This is written in a special markup language called HTML. Each page of your website usually has its very own HTML file, which contains the text content of that specific page - like your contact page. Images are not embedded in the same HTML files, they are stored seperately, and are only linked to from within your HTML file.
Secondly, your website files, as mentioned above, must obviously be stored on a computer that is always connected to the internet. Such a computer must have a static ip address, and a very fast internet connection, as some of these servers can host many many websites. Obviously you need to "rent" some server space for your websites' files. We also call this website hosting
Thirdly, you get assigned your very own ip address for your website. This can be something like 56.72.109.3 or 231.43.70.29. But who will ever remember your website address if you tell them its 56.72.109.3? So, what the clever people did is they allowed your unique ip address (56.72.109.3) to be "connected" to a domain name, like www.google.com or www.rgtwebhosting.com. So you only have to tell people your website address is www.rgtwebhosting.com, and not its ip address like 56.72.109.3 - much easier!
Fourthly, you need a person or company that can design your website. o5webdesign is one of the top web design companies in South Africa, and they are slowly but surely making their mark in Australia as well.
So, the summary of what you need to do if you want a website is:
That is basically all there is to it! A good web design company should assist you with the rest of the procedures, and in no time you'll have your own website!
All our hosting packages includes the following:
Hosting on Linux Servers
We host all our websites on Linux Servers because it is a much cheaper alternative to a Windows Server. We have servers situated in Texas, USA, and in Toronto, Canada.
Apache web servers, with PHP and MySQL support
Apache is one of the more popular web servers out there, as it supports a variety of features and extra modules to extend its functionality. It has built in support for PHP, Perl and Python programming languages. It also features a very usefull URL rewriter and custom log files.
PHP is the most popular Apache module at the moment among all servers using Apache. And it is ranked as the fourth most popular programming language, with Java, C and Visual Basic occupying the first three slots.
MySQL is a multithreaded, multi-user SQL database management system (DBMS), and currently has more than a whopping 11 million installations worldwide. It is also an Open-Source database engine, which means there are little to no costs involved.
